“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your wall and security within your citadels.” – Psalm 122:6-7
By now, our readers will be well aware of the announcement by the US this week, stating they will be moving their Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, whereby recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The internet is certainly aware. Social media is frantic with reactions from both sides of the issue. Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu was very appreciative of the announcements as he made clear in public video. Everywhere else of course, you can imagine, people are either rejoicing or reeling, which reminds me of a passage in Zechariah;
A prophecy: The word of the Lord concerning Israel.
The Lord, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the human spirit within a person, declares: “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. – Zechariah 12:1-3
Now, we know Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, the world knows, but the world, at least not all of it wants to recognise that. President Trump, however, has gone ahead and declared; “The time had come to recognise what everyone already knows to be true. Jerusalem is the capital the Jewish people established in ancient times.”
As you can imagine, this announcement has caused a great stir all over the world. Political leaders in the UK have been rather critical of the decision, claiming it will harm the peace process. Not wanting to outdone, Arab leaders all over the Arab world, especially Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh who made some startling declarations following President Trump’s announcement. He called for another intifada and for an international day of rage on December 8th.

Even though we know Jerusalem is the city of the Great King Jesus, we ask our readers to stand with Israel and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
“On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen; All day and all night they will never keep silent You who remind the LORD, take no rest for yourselves; And give Him no rest until He establishes And makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” – Isaiah 62:6-7
